PSAT Information

  • What is the PSAT?

The PSAT/NMSQT helps students become college ready.  It provides detailed feedback on skills, access to scholarships, and personalized online tools and excellent practice for the SAT.  The PSAT/NMSQT assesses the critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills students need for college and beyond.

  • When will FHS take the PSAT?

PSAT is scheduled on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.  This day will be an adjusted school day schedule.  Contact the school for more details.

  • Who takes the PSAT at FHS?

All 10th grade students are eligible to take the PSAT for free in Fauquier County Public Schools.  11th grade students can also take the PSAT for a small fee.  11th grade students are eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Competition and must see the Counseling Department to sign up.

  • When will I get my scores?

Scores will be available online starting in December.

  • How do I access my score report?

Click this link to check your scores.   (You will need to login or create an account and see your scores).

Students will have the opportunity to learn more about how to understand their scores by visiting their counselor or when we return the paper copies in January.  They will learn how PSAT scores relate to SAT scores and how the score report can be used as a tool for SAT preparation, academic improvement, and college and career exploration.

  • Is there a tool that can be used to explore/understand PSAT scores?

Yes.  If you would prefer to explore on your own, please check out this PDF file from the College Board with easy to follow and thorough information (including how to access your scores online).
